Our Research

Our team seeks to explore how principals support inclusive education in elementary and secondary schools. We also develop resources to support principals’ professional learning in inclusive education. Please see below to learn about our Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funded research projects:

 2021-2024 SSHRC Partnership Development Grant on supporting inclusive education for students with disabilities in Haiti. 

This project brings together a Haitian and Canadian team of researchers, teachers, and those from disability rights organizations to build inclusive education training networks in Haiti.

This project brings together a Canadian and Ghanaian team to examine inclusive education for students with disabilities in Ghana. 

 

2019-2025: SSHRC Insight Grant study on inclusive school leadership

2019-2024: SSHRC Partnership Development grant on fostering equitable education systems for those with disabilities in Ghana

 

 

June 2019: Conference on leadership for supporting students with special education needs

2018-2019: SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant

2016-2018: SSHRC-funded study on principal leadership

 

This conference focuses on the competencies of school principals to support students with special education needs in inclusive schools. 

 This five year project will explore the experiences of principals as they support students with special education needs in inclusive schools in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

This project involves a partnership with the Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC) to develop interactive online case studies to support principals’ learning on inclusive education.

This national study explored the ways in which Canadian school principals and vice-principals support students with special education needs in inclusive schools.
